The Texas Department of Public Safety manages and oversees the CHL program in Texas.

This course requires a minimum of 10 hours of training, a written examination and qualification at a firing range, conducted by a state licensed CHL Instructor.

You will be responsible for providing a
handgun for qualification purposes with a minimum calibre of .35, along with 50 rounds of ammunition.

We can provide rentals of qualification handguns if needed. Our training pistols include 50 rounds of ammunition and are available by reservation for $30.00 per student.

To apply, you must be at least 21 years of age or at least 18 years of age if currently serving in or honorably discharged from the military. These exceptions do not apply to instructors.

You will need to provide the following information during the application process:

Social security number
Valid driver license or identification card
Current demographic, address, contact, and employment information
Residential and employment information for the last five years
Information regarding any psychiatric, drug, alcohol, or criminal history
